Excerpts from the Town of Pound Ridge, MASTER PLAN 1981.
Our town's Master Plan was never adopted as law - so, it is simply a guideline. Other towns, such as Bedford, have adopted their town plans. This provides improved town governmental policy and, as a legal document, defends the town against lawsuits by acting as a blueprint for development.
As you skim our town master plan, you will see it is outdated (ie it makes development easier by going to variable setbacks versus fixed, etc.) There is a movement in town to redo the master plan. This is an excellent idea. However, if it is not adopted as law - it is a waste of time.
